Declan Rice, the midfielder for Arsenal, expressed his pride for scoring a goal during their match against Arsenal which resulted in a 2-2 draw.
Rice’s efforts from long range helped Arsenal make a comeback after being down by two goals. He mentioned watching the Beckham documentary for the first time and taking inspiration from the clips of Beckham scoring from the halfway line against Wimbledon. Rice found it bizarre that he watched the documentary the night before scoring a special goal to kickstart their comeback. In a split second, players have to make a decision whether to pass the ball or go for the goal themselves. Rice was pleased with his finish and believes in the importance of shooting to score. Despite the bitter feeling of not winning, Rice acknowledged the character and fight they showed in coming back from being 2-0 down away from home against Chelsea. He is positive about the mentality and belief in the team to strive to be the best they can be.
